Last night I was informed of an 8.8 earthquake hitting Chile, 6.9 aftershocks, and tsunami warnings. This morning I woke up thanking God for allowing me to see another day. The tsunami warnings continued threatening Chile, Peru, Argentina, Hawai'i, Japan, and many more, causing them to flee from their homes. Prayers go out them all. There are over 214 known deaths and 15+ missing persons in Chile.
To history these earthquakes are to no surprise, the last (devastating) earthquake Chile (Valdivia not Santiago) saw was May 22, 1960 which was a 9.5 magnitude, with over 1,000 people killed (with other sources claiming 5,000+ deaths and 2 million without homes).
