Right now the top trending topic on twitter is #beatcancer. When I think of cancer I think about my grandmother and grandfather and a knot starts to develop in my throat (holding back tears). I think about all of the people who have been affected by cancer and I shake my head, we've lost some warriors. I lost some warriors. My grandmother was very special to me, a best friend, someone who always looked out for me and taught me right from wrong. She had beat cancer once before but the last time cancer decided to take a visit, it took control. My grandfather dealt with cancer one time and to watch him go through stages was foreign to me. I had never witnessed something like this, witnessed both of my grandparents dying. . . I didn't see it coming, even though I watched closely. I was in denial and thought everything would be alright. I was young. I watched my grandfather take his last breath, peacefully in his home. My grandmother passed a few years after he in the same place (left side of the bed) but I was off in Vegas for All Star weekend the day it happened. When I got the call I was in shock and started to cry, then peace came over me. I knew my grandmother wouldn't have that, she'd want me to enjoy the rest of my stay but at night when we came from roaming the strip, I cried in silence. I thought about how when I'd come in the room to visit her, she'd smile from ear to ear and how she'd be quick to set a nurse straight. About the time the entire family went in the room for prayer because everything seemed to be failing and as we prayed she raised her hands to give God praise. It was crazy to see that during prayer everything started to balance out. They said she wouldn't make it through the night but she did and even a couple months after. My grandma was a WARRIOR, one of the strongest women I will ever know. My Angel. Sometimes I play her voice in my head, but its not the same. I just want to hear her say I love you back. . . one day we will meet again. We'll all meet with our loved ones. I can't wait to hold her hand again, give her a big hug and kiss. She and my grandfather are truly missed. xoxo. . .

Another trending topic I took notice of had to be #stoptheviolence (after the 16 year old boy in Chicago had been brutally beaten). Any topic with meaning behind them that promotes positivity is something I often pay attention to and take serious. There are also the topics you can't help but to participate in to get a good laugh, we all know we need a good laugh in our lives these days. . . the world is getting crazy.
