I just thought I'd share a bit about one of my three tattoo's; Simply because I just feel the need to stress how important it is for every tattoo to have value. On July 13, 2008 I came home & sat on the couch with my boy, & as I look at my cousin's away message on my LX it read "RIP TODD DOXEY", I wrote her immediately asking if what she posted was true (there have been rumors of death before; so I had to clarify). I then started to notice more away messages stating the same; smh. There was so much confusion, hurt, and anger that ran through me. I didn't know what to think; I couldn't believe it. TODD DOXEY; a well known athlete in my city was gone. His smile, drive & worry free attitude was something that caught everyones attention. He was a friend, a brother, a grandson, a son, a boyfriend, and much more. TODD DOXEY (who played football for the Oregon State Ducks) was on a bonding trip with the team, & as they decided to jump into the Mckenzie river, TODD & a fellow teammate decided to say a quick prayer (requested by TODD) after the prayer, TODD says "I got God on my Side", & they jump into the river... TODD (an excellent swimmer) caught a current & had to be pulled to shore, later to everyones knowledge didn't make it (dry drowned)...
There isn't a day that goes by that I do not think of this tragedy; TODD DOXEY is an inspiration to me (on & off this earth). He is someone you can meet one time & grow to love & respect. The day of his funeral I thought I'd be able to keep my cool, but just like everyone else as they played video's of TODD, showed pictures, & sang songs I crumbled. To see someone so successful thus far go I just couldn't believe it.
My tattoo reads "GOD IS ON MY SIDE" (literally) . I am not ashamed to admit that I believe in GOD & that he keeps me going. Whether you believe or not is up to you; I do not force those who do not, but I do say this; it feels GREAT to have motivation on a spiritual level. I believe that in any & everything I do "GOD IS ON MY SIDE" & although I may mess up he will always be there, through good or bad. TODD inspired me, & I feel that (although it took a tragedy) it is time to give my all in everything I do, as well as putting more trust in GOD, & to stop messing around. There are so many opportunities given, so why not take them? I thank GOD for TODD DOXEY, he has changed so many lives.
